Safe and Secure was originally published in Canada by Planned Lifetime
Advocacy Network (PLAN).
Equal Futures later published a Scottish edition of Safe and Secure in 2011.
We have published our ebook version of Safe and Secure and are keen to have

Thera Trust has just published the English edition to ensure that older carers in England
can also benefit from the advice and tools that Safe and Secure offers.
It focuses on creating a future plan and building a circle of support, which will continue to
offer support and guidance to the person with a learning disability even when their family
is no longer around.
It will act as a manual and give people and their families the advice and tools they need
to plan for the future. It covers:
Thinking about the future and what a ‘good life’ would look like.
Introducing the idea of a personal support network or ‘circle of support’ and how to
set one up.
Looking at different housing options and how to make a good home.
Making decisions about health, money and legal matters such as power of
attorney, guardianship and joint bank accounts.
Looking at wills, trusts and estate planning.
